Core Team
TherapistβResearcher in Consciousness & Integral Psychology
Nik Jefferson Ooi is a psychiatric mental health therapist and researcher whose work explores the relationship between modern psychotherapy and the psychology of consciousness described in the Integral Psychology of Sri Aurobindo. Based in Washington, DC, he is the founder of Randolph Clinic LLC, where he integrates psychiatry, psychotherapy, and contemplative approaches in the care of individuals experiencing psychological and emotional distress.
Nik's work is motivated by the question of how contemporary therapeutic psychology can be enriched by deeper insights into human consciousness. While modern psychotherapy has developed effective methods for addressing cognitive and behavioral patterns, the psychological writings of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother present a more comprehensive understanding of the human being as a multi-layered consciousness consisting of physical, vital, mental, and deeper spiritual dimensions. In this view, psychological suffering often arises from disharmony among these different parts of the nature and from the predominance of surface consciousness disconnected from the deeper inner being.
